About me
Hi, I have been involved with horses for 30 years or more. After my first ride on a donkey on Blackpool beach I became obsessed & drove my parents mad!
It was 20 years later when I got my own horse, though I rode & cared for many others in between. I owned my mare for 16 years before she died. she was my best friend & the reason I became an Equine Massage Therapist. I groomed her one day just using my hands instead of a brush, she adored it & from then on presented herself to me for a massage at every opportunity. Seeing the pleasure it gave her prompted me to look into it a bit futher, just to be on the safe side......& here I am.
I spent several years working on yards in West Yorkshire with many different breeds & temperaments from welfare cases to racehorses & eventers, before moving to Scotland & studying for my Diploma in EMT. I also have a certificate in horse management, & wish to futher my Qualifications in Bach flower remedies.
My training involved:
- Assessments in gaits & conformation
- In depth study of the muscular & skeletal structure
- Equine anatomy & physiology, including respiratory / digestive systems circulatory / lymphatic systems
- research of various illnesses & diseases
- Demo with an equine osteopath & more
After seeing the responses of the horses I have had the privilege to massage, I cannot recommend massage therapy enough.
